About Me
When did life become so busy?
When was a simple, home-cooked meal around an old wooden table, with those that we love the most in the world, replaced by a lonely puff of microwaved steam under a cold fluorescent tube?
The world is full of cheap, easy and fast food. Mass-produced sub-standard products are force fed to people who are too busy to remember what real, home-cooked fare, tastes like. They’ve forgotten how it feels!
My name is Giselle. I grew up on a farm in Kwazulu-Natal where our fresh vegetables were nutured by the rain and sun and our fruit was freshly picked from the tree, wiped clean on our sleeves and eaten whole. My mother spent happy days in the kitchen – gently teaching the next generation the secrets to the best pickle, and the art of making real butter by hand. Our evenings found us gathered around the family table, sharing delicious home-cooked meals and telling stories about our day.
My enduring love of real, wholesome food, made with fresh and nourishing ingredients, lives with me still. But it’s more than that, its about rediscovering the joys of preparing a meal, of spending precious time with those you love and I invite you to join me and experience this around my Kitchen Table.
I delight in teaching people of all ages the secrets that I have learned in the farm kitchen, from my Food Science studies and from my travels. Of course, cooking is far more enjoyable when you are doing it with and for people that you love. Which is why we offer this wonderful group cooking experience.
You will learn delicious new recipes, discover the secrets to preparing them to bring out the very best flavour – and then you get to share this tasty fare with your friends or family right there and then.
My home is your home, and I love seeing my clients turn into friends as we all enjoy the food and the conversation which is the essence of what it is all about.
Sometimes, you just need to pause… and go back to a gentler way of life. Even if it’s only for an evening. I would love to have you and your chosen people enjoy one of my interactive cooking evenings.
Bring your friends and family, and perhaps a bottle or two of wine, and share a special evening together around The Kitchen Table.
